David Sudlow is a designer specialising in environmental graphic design for museum and exhibition design, architecture, wayfinding and signage. He has designed well-known permanent galleries and exhibitions across the UK and internationally, and uses his expertise in visual communication to tell stories, educate, inform and open minds. David is involved in all projects from conception to completion, including all stages of the design process, design management, commissioning and art direction, and he is also experienced in digital and multimedia strategy, scripting, editing and interpretation design.

Current commissions at Nick Bell Design include a new exhibition for National Trust Chartwell, the family home of Sir Winston Churchill, due to open in 2012, and exhibition graphic design for the new First World War Galleries at Imperial War Museum London, a project led by the exhibition designers Casson Mann, which is due to open in 2014 as part of the museum's centenary project.

Teaching

Between 2004 and 2008 David taught graphic design at two different degree programmes. From 2004 to 2007 he was an Associate Lecturer at the London College of Communication and between 2006 and 2008 he was a visiting tutor at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Austria. Read more

He has led numerous workshops on graphic design, including the London College of Communication (LCC) Design Summer School (2006 and 2007) and in 2010 he gave the keynote address at the LCC School of Graphic Design graduation ceremony.

In 2009 David was invited to be an external consult for the creation of the MA Design Writing Criticism postgraduate degree at the LCC.

Memberships

David is a member of the Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD) and attends regular continuing professional development workshops and events at the Design Business Association (DBA) and Museums Association (MA).
