Biography
David Sudlow is a graphic designer. He work is primarily for museum and exhibition environments, connecting two- and three-dimensions using principles of editorial and information design. He completed his studies in graphic design at the Royal College of Art is 2004 gaining an MA in Communication Art and Design, and a distinction for his written thesis Communication Origination. He also holds a first-class degree in Typo/Graphic Design from the London College of Printing (now the London College of Communication). For three years, from 2004 to 2007, David worked for the London office of established museum designers Ralph Appelbaum Associates before joining Nick Bell Design in November 2007. At Ralph Appelbaum Associates he was the lead graphic designer for the redevelopment of the London Transport Museum (2005–2007), and acting lead graphic designer for the Culloden Battlefield Memorial visitor centre (2007). He moved to Nick Bell Design to lead the graphic design for the Great North Museum project (due for completion spring 2009). From January 2004 until October 2007 David was an Associate Lecturer in Information Design at the London College of Communication, teaching on the BA Graphic and Media Design programme. Between December 2006 and January 2008 he was also a visiting tutor at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Austria. In the past five years, he has created and conducted many design workshops and lectures, including the 2007 International Design Summer School held at the LCC. In June 2006, in conjunction with Paulus Dreibholz, Cathi Nippe and Nils Kloth, David established East Studio – a collaborative design office of four independent graphic designers. East Studio combined on a number of design projects and initiatives, including printed matter, digital screen-based projects and design teaching, including Teaching Type. David left in 2007 when he joined Nick Bell Design. |
