Teaching

Between 2004 and 2008 David supported his professional practice with active roles in design education.

For three years (2004–07) he was an Associate Lecturer at the London College of Communication (LCC) teaching graphic design on the Information Design pathway of the Graphic and Media Design degree programme. He created and developed project briefs, seminars and workshops to introduce first-year students of the 3-year programme to the core principles of graphic design and typography.

In 2006 and again in 2007 David was invited to lead the London College of Communication Design Summer School – a two-week 'design school' for visiting international students. Together with Alex Cooper of the Experimental Letterpress Workshop, he devised a hands-on and collaborative approach to projects that used letterpress technology to teach visual communication.

Between 2006 and 2008 David also taught graphic design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Austria. In 2006 he gave a 2-day design workshop with Paulus Dreibholz that led to him being invited back as a visiting tutor.

In 2009 David was an external consult for the founding of the MA Design Writing Criticism postgraduate degree at the LCC. In 2010 he was invited to give the keynote address at the LCC School of Graphic Design graduation ceremony.
