In December 2006 David was invited to deliver a 2-day typographic workshop at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna. In addition to a lecture on principles of poster design, David co-wrote and delivered, with Paulus Dreibholz, a poster design workshop for the students of the Design and Advertising Department. Following this, David was invited to become a visiting tutor in typography at the department, a post he held for the first half of the 2007/8 academic year, which he then had to relinquish due to other work commitments.

This opportunity enabled him to expand his teaching methods and experience, being responsible for students in the second and third years of the diploma course. Together with Paulus Dreibholz, he developed a core typographic understanding for the students and was able to introduce elements of editorial design outside of the printed page.
